Today, four hours apart, I received two "different" money request emails "apparently" via PayPal from persons/companies unknown. Both for the same amount. $399.99. I haven't bought anything on the platform for about four months. These scammers use names that might be similar to something you might know and hope you will just unwittingly send them funds. Don't agree, don't send funds. Do not click that button! It's just a way to fleece you from your money.

If you get such emails, forward the phishing emails to phishing@paypal.com, which is what PayPal tells you to do (on the PayPal website). What ever you do - don't respond to the scam email, do not call the fake toll free number - it's not to PayPal!

Do login to PayPal, by opening your browser and logging in yourself, and check for activity. If there is none, you don't need to do anything.

Apparently 'tis the season to scam... Don't fall for it!

I have received emails a couple of times in the past few months saying "Thank you for your order. Your Pay Pal account will be charged xx amount.. Click here for your copy of the invoice." Or something to that effect. Since I don't have a Pay Pal account, I ignored the emails, but clicking on the offered url could have been trouble.

I get approx 6-10 emails a day purportedly from various legit companies telling me to claim my free gift.
Hovering over the contact numbers show addresses about 100 characters long from all different countries at the end.

I have recently deleted/ignored several legit communications from work and businesses thinking they were scams. We are rapidly approaching the point where you will not be able to tell what is real. AI will make this even worse.

My brother 2 states away got a letter from an insurance company addressed to me asking for payment.

I've never lived there or done business with that company. Apparently hoping for a payment by anyone.

I keep getting endless emails claiming to contain coupons for yet another sale at Harbor Freight, even though I haven't spent a dime there in almost two years. Delete! Delete! :cussing:
