If you’re thinking about making a tailstock die holder, of which there are a million versions, I recommend the Hemingway design. It has a kind of clutch that allows running the die right up against a shoulder. Check it out.
The drawings are all you need to build this as the material requirements are scrap bin items if you’ve been machining for a few years.
