So I need to get my oil tank removed.
I asked for quotes from companies.
I never heard back from the one that asked me for all this info after I contacted them back with it, and the pics, and didn't receive a quote. the last contact was that I was waiting for the quote, when will it be coming, their response was we wait 48 hours to send it. After that crickets.

Another company wanted 50% up front, 50% when they came and completed for the day. But we still had an inspection and removal. I asked to change it to 1/3 1/3 and 1/3... No we don't allow that, and no I don't have authorization to do that. I said can you ask your supervisor then. or the owner. I get a call a few days later would Like to go ahead with 50%. I said I wanted to do 1/3s. I said the reviews I read about your company stated they were left with out removal, I wanted to ensure it. Again repeats she doesn't have auth.. I again say ask someone who does.
After that No responses, even when I call.

Got another company same thing... I keep reminding her she was going to check to see if the owner will do 1/3s. I don't want to pay up front for something that is not complete. I want leverage. But she keeps contacting me saying oh yea, I'll have to check, and then calls to find out if I want to go ahead... it's like some infinite loop.

And today, went to lunch with the wife and dog. At the restaurant I need to leave with my dog for 1 minute. The girl at the outside desk says hope everything was great, I tell her I'm coming back, just gotta get something. I come back and she doesn't know who I am, and asks table for how many. I said I am already seated, she says how did I get a table.. I said I just left and told you I'd be coming back. She was totally baffled.

Are these young ones so detached from reality? WTF.

I’m torn about whether or not to play devils advocate. Some companies have created barriers between departments. So the person answering the phone, many times, doesn’t know the person who could authorize a unique payment plan. Not only that, but the person who could authorize it, doesn’t want to, and knows they’ll never talk to you. It’s possible they’ve received some email about it, and never even opened it. The phone person, has no power to agree to anything except what’s on her “answer sheet”. She needs her job answering phones, and making appointments. She’ll play this game with you forever. Because she’s not paid for getting your business. She’s paid to answer the phone.

The girl at the restaurant…no excuse for her. But it’s possible she has some personal life altering dilemma overpowering her.

All that said, I really hate trying to get anything done through a service. Customer service is an art that we seem to have abandoned. We undervalued it, outsourced it, and forgot how to do it.

In a certain way I agree but another I think it has been a planned progression. It’s hard to deal with the public(present company excluded) but bean counters don’t care. And with almost everybody abandoning real customer service with first dealing with outsourced operators who I can’t understand, then AI’s that are completely lacking in the I part it just seems co’s have decided to just skip the whole thing because what are you gonna do ‘bout it.

The trades like what Jeff is talking about have always figured they had us by the shorthairs and are so busy they don’t care. It has gotten so bad that if I finally find someone who will actually shows up and do the job I make sure to use him whenever possible and send him good customers. I have also made myself useful to them doing welding and machine work.

That's the truth about the trades. Had so many no shows. When I do find a good one, I use them over and over.bi recommend them too.but even that goes South sometimes. Had a hard landscaper I recommended for job, he comes and looks over the job and never gets back to them.a call is all that's needed. Just let them know that you don't want the job.

It's what's wrong with America. Maybe the Government can fix it.
ROTFLMAO

Is it against the law for you to remove the tank yourself?

See I don’t see it as a “young person problem”(it seems everyone is younger than me) it’s responsible person problem. My wife thought you could get anybody off CL to do a job, no problem. I tried tell her and she just decided to get this guy to remove the big patch of juniper bushes out front. He said he had one of those mini excavators and would do it for $250 haul away included. I said go for it but I’ve got my own kettle of fish to fry so she’s on her own.

This shady looking character shows up and tears the heck outta the junipers and wants to get paid. She says you said “haul away included” which he said well then I can’t get my excavator in the trailer and she said ok, $50. His next thing is well I don’t have a tarp and SO asks and sure enough I have an old one that needs to go away. So he loads it and comes back the next day to get the excavator and as she’s paying him he says I can come back and give you a ride on my hog. Which she gives him the stink eye. When she told me he goes by the handle Biker Bob. Lesson learned, it was like dealing with a 3yld. This area is just full of “handymen” and I wouldn’t give you a plugged nickel for the whole lot.
