What would you do with this South Bend 9A?

If you have the space i would keep both!!

At the moment i have a Taig for the small stuff, a Myford ML7 for the in between stuff and a South Bend 9A for the larger stuff and for easy screw cutting!
I had a small atlas that i sold in order to buy the South Bend.

If you can keep both and have space for a mill you would be golden!!

Just my 2cents!

I kept the South Bend and sold the Craftsman. I also started cleaning up the 9A, and its coming along OK...... I really dont have room for 2 lathes so I chose to keep the higher quality machine (in my opinion).

P.S. Joebiplane...its a 1963 9a.I have the card from South Bend......the only thing thats missing from the original purchase order is the micrometer stop.

You made the right choice. I've had a number of machines come and go in my small shop. I still regret selling my first lathe, a 9x17 Logan, but the 9A helps heal the hurt ;)
I've had a couple of the larger Atlas lathes. They clean up easily and sell quickly but they aren't keepers IMO.

Lathes do tend to accumulate. I'm about to have a garage sale.
