What is it?

So I got a SB 9A 1960 toolroom lathe with the under body motor. I got a bunch of stuff with it, most that I have worked out. There is this one however that baffles me. I've searched through all the parts lists, accessories lists and diagrams, but came up with nothing.
It initially looked like it could mount to the saddle. However, that is not the case as the bolt spacing is not the same.
The long thin rod is secured by the set screw show in the pictures. There was no bolt in the larger threaded hole and I imagine there are some parts missing here.
The lathe runs everything I have without it. It didn't come with the taper attachment, but none of the pictures I have seen have this part in there.
This is more to satisfy curiosity than anything else, but any information would be appreciated. :)

I was suspecting it might not be since there was nothing on the lathe that it seemed to fit.
Oh well.
Thanks for responding :)

Could it be the bed clamp to the taper attachment? Perhaps someone tried to adapt a different manufacturer's item years back.

Hard to tell at this point. The seller had another lathe he was using regularly and the 9A was next to it. He might have even used it as a storage table then forgot about it. I'll send him the pics. He might be looking for them!
