Vevor Replacement Motor?

Harbor Freight sells replacement motors for their 4x6. The PDF says "call for pricing" but IIRC it was in the $50-60 range. Pre-inflation.....but back then it was the least-expensive motor I found.

Something I was cutting shifted and jammed the blade, stalling the motor. It overheated and burned out some of the connector wires on the inside, but it was external, not in the windings. The wires overheated, softened the insulation and shorted out. I took the motor apart, repaired the connector wires and saved myself some money. It might be worth the time to take yours apart, maybe the same thing happened.

I didn't find a thermal fuse in my motor. I guess the buck or two it cost was too much .

Correction, at the time the replacement HF motor cost $150. Apologies for the misinformation.

I finally pulled the motor and with help from you guys narrowed it down to a burned run cap. I don't know if another/undetected issue caused the cap to melt down, but for now I'll assume it's just the cap.

Now the problem becomes finding a replacement which will fit in the housing. It's a 35uf 250V 50/60hz, BUT it's small = 38 dia x 70 lg (w/o leads) and I'm having a hard time finding one. If any of youz know where I can source one please yell!

I found a 36uf 250VAC capacitor on Mouser, a PSU3635 made by Cornell-Dubilier. $19.67. Dimensions are given as 36 x 36mm. You may want to jump on it, they just have ONE left in stock....

As far as I know the only difference is the size (in microfarads) of the capacitor. I gave you a part that met the value and voltage rating you specified.

Moot point, unfortunately their stock now is zero.....

Start caps are only for short duration use and are often back to back electrolytic. You get a high capacitance in a much smaller package than the run capacitors.

Run capacitors are continous duty and are usually film and foil or paper and foil construction. Maybe also metalized film style.

You can go a bit lower on the voltage rating if you need a smaller size. 165 volts minimum for a machine operating on 115 volts AC
