I have Timken tapered roller bearings I've been keeping for a rainy day I wont be running high speeds ,If I remember right ,speeds can be around the 1200 mark but mostly it'll be 800 or less .
Well I'm getting there except for a total cockup tonight . I have the mt2 taper bored in the spindle , the bottom bearing journal turned to size , then I turned my attension to the top bearings journal and I ended up turning it 50thou under!!!!! Just plain dumb mistake . All the other work on the spindle for nothing .
Is it ruined or could I press on a sleeve where the bearing journal is and turn to size.

These are the plates I'm hoping to to mount the spindle ,I plan on using some sort of clamping system. Use a slitting saw to cut a slot in each plate drill and tap for a m8 bolt
Bit more done last night ... Think I might be making progress ....
This is the mounting plates I'm planning using ,will machine 4 spacers for bolting them together . I'm planing a clamping system any ideas guys ?

Any ideas for a clamping system for the plates to the spindle head . I have a couple ,I'm curious to what you guys might come up with . I'm going to machine 4 spacers to go between the plates ,drill a clearance hole in the top plate and drill and tap the bottom plate .
Well change of plan on the mount of the head , the farmer in me said weld it so I did . Turned out great and a lot easier to what I originally was going to do . I tried it out this weekend with a temporary motor and pulleys set up which I think won't be to far from the finished product .
