Using a carriage stop to stop a moving carriage

For a manual fine feed I put a hand crank on my mini lathe's lead screw. To use it I just engage the half nuts (making sure the lead screw drive train is in neutral first!!). The carriage stop provides good enough "feel" to stop right at the end of the cut. I remove the crank when threading so it won't thrash around and potentially whack me or something else on the bench. The 16TPI lead screw gives me better control compared to turning the carriage handwheel.

Our L&S has a lockout system where it is not a clutch but kicks it out of gear.

Never use it as we just pull the feed out when as almost there and finish by hand.

The SB has a stop that we do use after, not kick out but we do as others posted...finish by hand as hand pressure against the stop is nothing.
