Hello , I am Mike a newbie and self taught but dearly love making chips.
My question or a couple of questions. I am in North Louisiana at this time and wondering if there would be others that I might be able to contact in the area ??
My next question is JUST WHERE IN THE DEVIL DOES EVERYONE FIND ALL THE DEALS ON OLD USED TOOLS ACCESSORIES ETC MACHINIST WOULD BE INTERESTED IN??? I haven’t been able to locate any places to find any steals or tool floats please advise and give me a holler if your in the area

Well, with you being in Lousiana, it's not a hot bed of industrial activity. You can check Craigslist or Ebay and have it shipped or go after it yourself. Depending on what you're looking for that would be the only alternatives you have. If you put up a list of something you're looking for , there's always someone around here with a ton of stuff laying around that may get you started.

I'm not from Louisiana but it should be close to an answer for you.

m Going to garage sales flea market, etc., don't take for granted that what you see is all they have. Ask if they have what you re looking for and be specific. You may find more than you will ever need. Not everyone knows what will sell.

Being from southwest Arkansas, I understand your plight. I mostly use Ebay, ads on machining forums, and online searches to locate items of interest. If I find an item I'm interested in and want to look or go pick up after making a deal, my wife and I just make a "road trip" and turn it into a mini vacation. I have picked up some equipment in excellent condition by making a fun trip, most times several states away. But then, we like to travel.

Bobby where in sw ark. Do you live ? You may not be that far from me.
How big of a shop do you have now ? I only have a 12x24 building to do way too munch in. I need a concrete floor and some where the humidity isn’t so bad !!

I have posted this before and will do so again. I find lots of machinist tools not machinery in pawn shops. last year in las vegas I found a 24" pair of digita; calipers. no battery or battery cover so I couldn't test them. but for 100 bucks I couldn't turn them down. took them home and installed a battery. they worked fine. went to Makita and bought a battery cover. great tool for cheap price. in casr you wonder what i used them for, I rebuilt vertical pumps for a living and they worked great for measuring bowl fits bill
