Ford 6.0 diesel. Traded a veteran his broken truck for a car so he could get back home.
Oil pump fell apart in side. Snap ring popped out, smashed to rear pump cap. Gear spinning free on other end. Gear bolt hanging loose.

Order a CNC machine aftermarket oil pump.
Well, 'I thought' it would be a cnc machined oil pump from a block of aluminum. Appears to be a cast seam of two sections mold.1000005238.jpg
Well, made it's just a business name lol.
Checked variable turbo... all locked up inside, vanes, ring, impeller wheel, plus oil seal leak. Great!1000005696.jpg1000005691.jpg1000005689.jpg1000005697.jpg More parts and lots of sanding, cleaning and polishing. "Maybe" time for a replacement turbo.
Variable vanes nicked up by exhaust impeller destruction. All but 3 locked up with rust.
Although more of a mechanical machine shop repair. It still takes a great amount of time and some skill points to fix a 22 year diesel.
Plus USPS at KC missouri sorting did not ship my parts out for over 2 weeks!
Costs so far... truck swap, 1600 , parts 2200, so $3800 before turbo counting disaster. 36-40 hours invested
Kinda like playing lotto, won't know until the first start.

I've heard the best fix for those engines is to replace the turbo with a fixed vane type.

I found out the 6.0s ARE expensive . 03 F250 here .

:encourage: Agree , and went bigger . I can tune mine to the new turbo with the SCT chip but my mechanic said to take it to a tuning shop for a special program to make it spool lower in the rpm . :dunno:

Wow. Coked oil? I always ran synthetic oil to avoid that sort of thing. I've heard that variable vane turbos give great response, but they have a higher failure rate than fixed vane. My turbo is water cooled as well for a little more help at keeping oil temps lower.

"Guy" had installed upper radiator hose on a corroded leaky water outlet, sooo, he added lots of stop leak!
Oil cooler completely, permanently plugged up.1000005448.jpg

Yes... head studs, hpop, head gasket set, oil cooler,
Plus lots of time injector orings, oil rail nipple oring rebuild,
Took front of truck off, can stand and work. 1000005343.jpg
