Truing up headstock

Here was the cut after a .01 cut then a follow up .002 cut. I cut some mild 1” steel, should have drilled it and used the tail stock. It was hanging a little to far out and I got some chatter.

Ok here goes first try, going to see how it cuts Mikey

Your tool is not sharp. All the edges must meet at a very sharp intersection. When the edges are sharp, they will not reflect light. See how your faces are rounded near the edges? You need to hone it so each face meets the others at a clean, sharp intersection. Don't worry, it will come.

So it was a good thing when folks say I'm "not too bright"? I guess that means I'm sharp! Sorry...couldn't resist. :grin:

Following as I'm planning how I will go through this when I set up my Clausing.
