Trav-a-dial

Just another point to ponder . Both DROs and TDs are used as a reference only . No machinist I know trust either for final dimensions . Many other factors are involved when making your $hithouse or Penthouse final cut . You still have to physically measure your part . Just a matter of preference on which would suit your needs . ;)

I was given an inch/metric Trav-a-dial when a friend passed. After trying to figure out how to mount it on my Heavy 10L, I sold it on eBay, bought a 2-axis DRO and pocketed $100. Glad I did.

I am with Chips and More, the DRO dancing numbers is not for me.

My 1236 came with it, when I acquired the SBL13 I just have to have a TD for it. Found one in fairly bad shape, managed to get the rebuild kit for it. One of the gentlemen in the forum, who is clock savvy, rebuild it for me.

For a novice, threading with a TD makes it easier to catch the end to disconnect.

If I ever sell the SBL13 that TD will not convey, it will find residence in the baby Jet lathe 1024
