Toolbox cart as lathe base/stand?

A rolling tool chest can work for small lathes, I have my Sherline on one, and my Craftsman 6" on a rolling cart I built. I've seen it work for 9x20 lathes barely, but I think a 10x22 is over the line of practical for a rolling tool chest.

There are some examples of people building a frame that the tool box fits into that could work for you. You are correct just the materials to build a nice solid bench yourself will likely cost more than a prefabricated stand.
