Yes it is a tad on the large size (abt 750 lbs) but I will sell my near new Delta band saw. With this saw I will be able to cut steel, alum, and wood which will make life a whole bunch easier for me.
They also had a large bead blaster and a surface grinder sitting there for 30 cents a pound but going to a auction tomorrow and try to get a surface grinder that is taken apart on the cheap:drool:
Ya gota love the scrap yards:biggrin:

make sure there isn't some HIDDEN reason why it came from the scrap yard before you sell your other saw. It could have been scrapped for any reason,so be careful.

It was from our good old USA disposable asset's bunch where they were shutting down another worthless branch. No one wanted it as it was 3 phase.
There aint any wear on it I can find anywhere (just light film of rust).;)
Have to find out about the blade welder if it needs 3 phase or not, if not I will change out the motor for single phase and be ready to go.
I think I am going to put it on casters as I cant figure a permanent spot to put it.

Don't change the motor. Easier to get a VFD for it. Then, you also get variable speeds that are easy to change.

Will VFD work using the blade welder?? voltage spike???? it uses a transformer welder for making up blades.
I just got back from an auction preview that has 2 ea 10 HP 1700 rpm 3 phase motors that I may be able to snag cheap, if so I will make a rotary phase converter for an easy work around (I hope);)

If you decide to build one let me know, I've got a bunch of start run caps you can have for shipping. I could get a lot in a flat rate box.

Paul

Amazing suckage there 8^)
I am pretty sure you are going to need 3 phase for that welder. It is probably worth more than you paid for the saw.

Randy

Paul I will keep you in mind and thanks for the offer. I have been reading all I can about rotary converters and it dont look to complicated to build.
I have been checking the saw from one end to the other and can not find any noticeable wear anywhere except the table insert for the blade but not much at all.
I think I will go back to the scrap yard and see how much the surface grinder they got will cost:drool:
