Does anyone know what happened to the website of Toms Techniques? Seems to have closed down.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago, when I switched from chrome to firefox and was checking my bookmarks for cleanup/

I don't think he's posted for a while. A few years, IIRC

A very talented machinist.
He put together some great how to videos.
Like many Youtubers he probably just lost interest. It's very time consuming to produce a good video.
What's the payback?

Between Mr. Pete, Abom, Tom Lipton and Tom's techniques, I think they were my reintroduction into the hobby.
I miss Tom Lipton's videos.
Did he retire from Lawrence Livermore/Berkely labs?
I know he moved up into Gold Country.

Yes. He still posts, very irregularly.

I’m sure some of you have been wondering why I dropped off the face of the earth, so I thought I would drop by and bring my status up to date.
I’ve been retired for a couple years now and have been spending time over on the dark side, working with wood. I built an organic, Maloof style rocking chair for my daughter in law, just in time for the arrival of my new granddaughter. I’ve also always wanted to build a stringed instrument, and am currently building a full size cello. That has turned out to be a very challenging project as most of it is hand work, not machine work as I am accustomed to. The outside shape, top bottom and sides, is pretty much complete with the scrolled neck and fingerboard remaining.
My wife and I have also decided to relocate and are looking for a house mid-state here in Michigan, to stay close to our growing family and are planning to build a place in the Upper Peninsula to stay close to the great outdoors. I put up a steel building there last summer to house my shop and am currently putting up the interior walls for the shop and automotive bay, and to provide storage for all of my various toys such as project cars, dirt bikes and snowmobiles. I like to call it the Toy Box. My goal is to have it pretty much operational this summer and start moving the shop in.
I still plan on making more videos again, but right now my plate is pretty full, so continue to hang in there as I continue to monitor my YouTube page and answer whatever questions I can. I’m also taking a look at this website to see if I can repair a few issues and bring it more up to date. No guarantees on that, but I’ll do what I can.
Tom

I agree that if you want to be serious about YouTube, then it takes a ton of effort and time. In short, it’s a real job. And it’s sort of a public facing sort of job. Which are just about the worst kind of real jobs you can have.

That’s why I don’t do it. I mean obviously the world could benefit from my vast knowledge across multiple disciplines….but I’m busy. Lmao
