Even by 10 years old only thirst or hunger were my boundaries. We roamed for miles in every direction.

So did we. But the creek was our favorite place, about a mile away. Saturdays were our walk into town 2.5 miles for the serial movies. Cost milk bottle caps to get in. (& donuts to walk home.) Multiple RR tracks to cross.
