In looking for our final home in retirement, the condition is absolutely no HOA. They are either controlled by property management companies and or people that love to rule over others because their personal lives are so pathetic.
Sorry, something that hits home currently as we are searching for that place.

read it in the news, I watch a utuber Lehtos law, it comes up frequently, I have read some amazing stuff in the news though. Never would go HOA. insane.
