I add that the numbers on the thread dial represent inch distances on the lead screw, and if the thread to be cut is a factor of the lead screw pitch, the half nuts may be closed anywhere and the tool will track, In example, I have a 4 thread per inch lead screw, and I can cut 4, 8, 16, and 32 TPI without even needing to look at the thread dial. Yes, I could cut 64 TPI and 128 also, but they are too fine to bother with.
