The table (or how to overkill)

That's a nice table and your welding doesn't look bad at all! I have tables from 1" to 1.25" thick and it really makes a difference compared with thinner tables so you're going to like having the thicker top. Can you share the details on the caster/levelers? I have a table I want to add something similar to and haven't gotten around to doing much research.

I think you are definitely better off not welding the top to the frame. I like having the top bolted to the frame at the corners just in case I want/need to lift it....1/2" bolts recessed into the top would be more than enough...just something to consider.
 
Now all you have to do is layout a grid pattern and punch some 3/4" holes for hold-downs.
