My response is this. I have a half dozen or more DTIs. Best Test, B&S, General, Last Word and even what is probably Last Paragraph. Unless you are working for NASA even the cheapest will get you by. My General which is bottom of the barrel is on a mag base all the time because when I reach for it and it gets dropped it's no loss. My good instruments are in their cases for when I need real accuracy. Most of the time if I get to .002 it is close enough as in repair jobs. Building a model engine, of course, requires more accuracy. Don't get ahead of yourself. At the beginning having fun and experimenting is better than high precision.
