Spindle Light For PM45M

I found the rings for $36.99 and $2 shipping at Amazon. I also found a scrap 12v wall wart to run one when it gets here. My deal is that a 90mm ring will have to be glued to the bottom of the spindle. No step on mine.

That is the same vendor I got mine from except I decided to go through ebay instead.

Thanks Will for your detailed explanation. I had read it a while back and decided to go the same route as the shadows from the side lighting drives me nuts. I just received the 90mm COB led ring and I'm waiting for the rest of my items (rocker switch, disconnects...). Quickly tried the led ring and boy that thing is bright, smooth and homogenous looking. Very cool. You might also consider these [FONT=&amp]on eBay "90mm HID White 105 COB LED 12-24V Angel Eyes Halo Ring Fog Housing Lamp", this is very low profile (thickness) and was mounted with RTV cement. Also like the magnetic mounting idea if I had more room. Cheap $14. You can buy an inexpensive universal voltage (100-240V), output 12V 500-1000mA wall wart power supply for a few dollars, or look through you're junk box. Wire it into your machine or a separate power switch bar. This halo LED requires no driver and is tolerant of a wide voltage range. I ended up using a halo LED light and a separate 10W LED (120V) landscape lamp behind it as shown, so lights up the whole mill work area. The great thing about the spindle ring LED lights is lack of shadows. I also recommend using the Cool White (6-7K) color range, much less fatiguing and easier to see then warm white LEDs.

Turns out the SMD rings I ordered were out of stock, and they are sending the 90mm COB 6000K rings. And thanks for posting the picture using the LED spot LOL - I just stripped one down for the 60 LED board and tossed the housing - dang it.

I bought a 60LED ring light from Banggood.com, $23 AUD ($17 US), comes with its own power supply with dimmer. I just glued some magnets to it and it fits perfectly to the quill on my Zx40 mill. Pretty much a plug and play solution. I haven't got enough posts to post a link, so just go to Banggood.com and search for item 1048412. I have got some pics of my install somewhere if anyone is interested.

Time to mount and wire the ring.. And Ill be golly, my mill has the same dang holes in it as Dark Zeros..Now off to the hardware store to find some round switches that will fit. What a great use for those holes!

Anyone know what those holes are for that are plugged? I mean it does not matter..I am going to use them but just interested..Maybe Ill climb up in the enclosure and see whats behind there..

I will post a picture when I get-er-done.

Some RF-45 clones were offered with a power tapping function. The wiring for the quill limit switches exited one of those holes. I've seen another that had both holes used for wiring but not sure for what on that mill.
