Spindle bearing play ?

Well, 0.02mm is about 7 ten thousandths of an inch. It could be within the realm of the spindle deflection but the quality of Emco bearings makes this doubtful. I still think it's table movement even though you don't seem to think so. You did say that the table axes were not locked. Makes it even more likely I think. Have you tried different endmills?
