If you can determine how many TPI it has, this might be a perfect application for my program RideTheGearTrain. It will tell you what gears to use in the gear train for any TPI, even decimal fraction of a TPI. It also has tables for BSW (British Standard Whitworth) and BSF British Standard Fine. Select imperial threads in step 3 and in step 5 see menu item 5C. They were certainly 55 degrees rather than 60. I live in New Zealand and still have a collection of old Whitworth bolts, nuts, taps dies and spanners that I grew up with in 1960's to 70's with old British cars. My 1955 Boxford lathe is all BSF and BSW and so is the 1870's British Tangyes steam engine I have been working on. Good luck. I look forward to hearing how you resolve the issue!
