We have sometimes crossed bodies of water. But the main reason to have a snorkel is to get less dusty air. Ppl who are not regular overlanders miss that part. For water crossing, you also need to have your diffs, transfer case, and trans vented above the water level.

360 motor bored 40 over and Howell fuel injected. 727 trans with a Dana 300. Front axle is a 1976 Dodge Dana 60. Rear is a 1980 Ford Dana 70.
