It all depends on where you live. In my former shop, plastic rusted. My current shop, I really don't have to do anything at all and nothing rusts. Ballistol works great at times, but it's no match for Pacific Northwest weather and a shop that is never reallly sealed

you are most likely correct on the other hand the germans came up with it for weapons in two world world wars in all conditions

of course it's heavier than air but it probably affects the ozone like everything else

These smell suspiciously like camphor. I now use camphor in all my tool enclosures, including 2 old non-working apartment refrigerators - the doors seal and the tools stay rust free
