Rotary table dial questions

I used the rotary table to drill 4 holes for a backplate . Phase 2 90:1 , started at “0” on both the table and handwheel dial

When setting the zero, you have to approach zero with backlash taken into consideration.
I assume you are setting zero with some kind of dial indicator.
As you approach zero by sweeping the part, if you ever get past where you want, you have to back up the RT by at least 1/2 turn and then go forward again to keep backlash out of the setup.
You also have to turn the handle in the same direction while setting zero and while turning the piece from hole to hole.

, when I went to the second hole 90’ I was expecting the handwheel dial to end up back at “0” .

90º is 22.5 turns. So, the dial reads 4º per turn, 90º, 0.5 turns is 2º, while 22 turns is 88º.
At 90º and 270º the dial will read 2.000º while at 0 and 180- the dial will read 0.000º.
