Guys many thanks for the help on my bushing question. On to my next problem which is a shaft for the QCGB,looking at the pics if they come out good can kinda see the problem.I don't want to make a new shaft if I can get out of that but I would like to try and just repair the 3/4 end.The shaft dia is .625 and the bigger end is .750 Plan#1 is to turn down the OD of the shaft down to .625 then make a sleeve w/ .625 ID x .750 OD and just use some Loctite to hold it in place.Since the QCGB is low rpm and not alot of stress I am thinking this will work.Plan#2-Do the same put pin the sleeve Plan#3 Make the sleeve as press fit, which I would have to ask if the OD of the shaft is turned down to .625 what size would I have to make the bore of the sleeve so that it would be a press fit? Say .623???Thanks guysIMG_0331.JPGIMG_0329.JPG

I'd go the sleeve route with a shrink fit. If you have a 5/8 reamer, ream an oversized sleeve. Then machine the shaft for a 1/2 thou interference fit. Heat the sleeve with a propane torch and slip it on, then turn the OD to 3/4. If you try to machine ID and OD first it will be thin to handle and the OD will swell a little when you shrink it on the shaft.
I might be tempted to go with 9/16 rather than 5/8, then you'd have a shoulder to locate the sleeve and a thicker walled sleeve.

A sleeve would be OK; so far as the fit is concerned, the rule of thumb is .001 per inch of diameter for either a press or shrink fit; finish the OD after installing the sleeve.

How about a nice tight fitting sleeve and a tapered pin? Tapered pins are something I discovered while refurbishing my lathe.
All you need is a small tapered pin reamer and make a small tapered rod angled at 1/4 inch per foot. It makes a professional
repair and not difficult to do and will not slip.

Thanks guys,sound like I have a plan.
Looks like you have a mangled gear there too on the left side
Yes sir I do,all the shafts in the QCGB is in need of repair or replace except the shaft for the tumblers.I have replace every bronze bushing including the gears. Its a mess
