Refurbished a couple of craigslist finds

You made me think...
lol any way. I realized I purchased this new sometime in the 80's, like 40 years ago. I guess the age thing is hitting me. View attachment 450895It has always been my #1 tool and has never failed me and other than making a stand for it, has required no maintenance ( bearings, caps) Any idea how old yours is?
Other than the Mac tag it looks like I have the newer version.

That's not a Baldor. That Mac is made by Ridgid, I just examined one today in a shop I visited for work. Never seen a Baldor with two case bolts, they always have 4. Just did a quick search to verify, it's a Ridgid.

I have no idea how old it is but very little has changed since they were first introduced. I think the newer ones have a Black and yellow badge on them. Your grinder is not the same thing as I have. It sounds like your machine has been a fantastic purchase for you. Buffers and grinders do look similar but they are designed differently than grinders. Higher RPM's, fully exposed wheels and the axle end to axle end measurement on the 333B is about 30" so that you have the most clearance to get access to the buffing wheels from more acute angles.

Thank you very much. I didn't think about the extra room required to buff vs grind or the rpm difference.
Any idea how fast the buffer spins?

Thank you John, I had no idea Rigid made grinders .

The 333B is about 30" from axle end to axle end. Mine runs at 3600RPM but they do offer a buffer that runs at 1800rpm as well. It is a 332B.

Baldor

So is this a rigid? It only has two bolt holes?20230628_094850.jpg

It's Schroedinger's grinder. It's a Baldor, it's a Rigid, it's neither, and it's both. Quantum plurality. Either that, or there are really only one or two manufacturers outside of Asia.s-l1600 (4).jpg20210528120601563_L.jpg
