Recommendation for drill bit set?

Another vote for Viking.

The sets are pricey though - I bought one of the stub sets up to 1/4, then one of the cheap cobalt 115-pc sets mentioned above. When I break a drill in the 115-pc set, it gets replaced with a Viking.

of course, if being without a drill bit due to breakage is not an option, then you're probably more of a job-shop than a hobby-shop, and should fork out the money for the good stuff. but you get to write it off as a business expense so it's all good
 
Ok. Dumb question.... Is Molybdenum the same as cobalt?
I have a set of cobalt drill bits from Menards and I love them.
 
Molybdenum increases corrosion resistance in steels. It is wear resistant and work hardening.

Cobalt raises the working temperature of tool steel, like enhanced HSS.

Both would be better than Szechuan butter steel...

I like the one in post#6 , I also own this set by Viking and the bit seem to stay sharp , no rust, corrosion ,love drilling with these bits, they are also short enough to fit in my mini mill.

The cobalt screw machine 135 deg split points are great in the machines but easy to chip and break if you use them in a hand drill motor.
