Rechargeable batteries

Interstate Batteries will rebuild most battery packs for about half the cost of new. I have a brick and mortar store 30 min away, but it is the only one I have ever seen.

Interstate Batteries is a widely known supplier (national?) for "industrial grade" equipment like fork lift batteries and the like. I have dealt with them a few times at their local outlets (Ala & S.C,) although I never thought to ask about drill batteries. The local shop is the sort of place where golf cart batteries are considered "light-weight". I had a hydraulic manlift that used 4 of them (24V). They don't have a "public" presence, at least in my area, being more industrial oriented.

I bought this one for my old B&D. There are a few variations. Pick the right one! I bought the highest amp in the right voltage.

It looks close but the connectors are wrong..

In looking at the 43 pages, the Skill, Bosch, and some Milwaukee were the closest. Skill closest of all

Why throw money at an antique Ni-Cd tool? Ni-Cd died an overdue death. The cadmium was toxic enough to begin with, send it to haz waste.

Ni-MH is fairly reliable, but they self-discharge very quickly compared to other technologies. Skip that one and go straight for Li-ion.

I recently added to my Bosch cordless collection with a jig saw, an angle grinder, and a new battery and charger. It's not expensive. I just can't see the wisdom in retrofitting or rebuilding batteries that were made during the Clinton administration when the tech has come so far since.
