I'm always on the lookout for more tool holders for my Rapid Original Type A tool post for my lathe. If anyone here has some of those that are just collecting dust and would like to sell, I'd be interested. You can start a conversation on this forum or contact me at:

Thanks

You have a pic or link of what a "Rapid Original" looks like?
That'd be helpful.

Thanks,

Sure, here you go.
These tool posts and tool holders were widely used on European lathes and were made under license to other makers with different names, such as Schaefer and Fontana and I believe they were even used by Colchester under their own name.
Thanks for any assistance.

Algra Rapidue is another version of the Dickson design. The bodies all seem to have the same dimensions but there are differences in the thickness of the adjusting collars on the tool holders. When mixing and matching, some adjusters need to be ground or milled slightly or the holders will not mate snugly with the post. I have a bunch of holders that have been matched to the Algra post that i've replaced with a Multifix but best to sell the entire set someday., Dave

I have a couple of tool holders that need to be ground to fit my Rapid tool post. I don't have a surface grinder so maybe some day I'll get a friend to do it for me. Dickson was the other name brand I was trying to think of.
