Radial arm drill

Congratulations Martin. You'll find lots of uses for it.
I picked up one a while back on Crown Assets. Bid on it sight unseen, the picture had a vice on the table, judged the size from that. Turns out the vice was a massive 8 inch one, probably weighs 80 pounds.
Not quite as big as yours maybe a 30 inch arm. Unbelievably steady. Hole saws cut silent on it.

Wow, that Mas is so cute and small! You don't even need the usual three flights of stairs to get up top, and 4MT tooling is affordable for the hobbyist. I tell ya, some of those Carlton radial arm drills I've seen in shipbuilding need to be less than 1/4 mile from a power plant lest the wires overheat. You're gonna be a hole-drilling monster! What's your first project going to be?

Well I am a commercial millworker. We build custom cabinets and millwork for hospitals, schools,,casino projects and the like. A lot of our projects involve steel brackets, and frames for Granite or quartz .
I have been slowly including these in my quotes to be more competitive. My project now is 120 steel brackets for cubbies in a kindergarten classrooms. That’s about 660 holes.
So my hobby metal shop at home is going to get easier I hope!

I got the drill home yesterday with almost no trouble. The lift truck on their end had trouble lifting it. The back wheels kept coming off the ground. That was what I was worried about on my end but my lift truck must have been heavier because it lifted it off no problem.
I have not had time to look at it. I am going to try and get it in place and wired on the weekend.
