Yah, it is noisy....I got it back in 1988 paid 1000 dollars for it used, in California. It set for years then was loaned out to the college for 3-4 years and finally we moved out to montana and built a house in 2017 at which time I had a shop built into the house and began using the machine. It doesn't get a lot of use but is very useful when needed.
