Guys before everyone tells me Aloris,I know but I don't have that kind of money. So I am looking for a wedge type but I sure would like for it to be as close to Aloris quality except the price.AXA and BXA I do have few holders so I just need the tool post and not a kit,but it a package deal is there I be all in(never can have enough holders).I have look on auction site that there is alot of them from Phase II,Shars, and some with no names. But like most theres a good chance they all come from the same factory,so is there one that is better than another? One that you consider good for the money, one that you would say"I will never buy again"?
Any links to what you like would be nice, thanks

Bostar from CDCO. I have read some poor reviews of the seller, but my transactions with him have all been just fine, the prices have been the best out there, and the tools have been decent. YMMV.

I also have the bostar from cdco wedge style. Best price and good quality.
CDCO Bostar AXA set $159.00. People seem to like them. I have some Bostar holders that are the best Chinese ones I have seen yet. I do not have a Bostar tool post. I have a Phase II BXA set, and it is OK, but not great. Full disclosure: I have not compared the tool post with others.

To the original poster, Kroll: One of the problems with Chinese import tooling is that the quality is inconsistent, seemingly among most or all of the brand names. Do not judge the quality of a Chinese company's products by one specimen. Quality control seems to be a lingering problem with all but the finest with Chinese tooling, high end stuff that we are not considering here.

I have had Bostar BXY 250-11 holder for 3 years. The only problem is the set screws in the tool holders are a bit soft. The hex socket in some screws have spun out. Other than that the post works fine.

Yes. For any of the cheaper tool holders, take the screws that came with it out and replace them with some good screws, like Holo-Krome.

It seems to me the the parts of the system, the fixture on the compound and the tool holders are so basic that any differences between them are negligible. Once a series of cutting tools is set, and all parts are locked together, they are all going to behave the same. Buying Aloris means you can spend money without regard to reward. Possibly the cheap end, with the piston instead of the wedge may have some demerits, but the tool rooms I've worked in used both interchangeably.
