Great job on the rebuild, and enjoying seeing the steps to get it there. I was looking for a 12” Nardini, but ended up getting a PM1236t instead since I only saw one for sale anywhere close to me, and that didn’t last long.
Paint... I hate painting. It gets everywhere, and one sloppy brush stroke leaves a lasting mark.
The literature says Nardini used RAL #6011, Reseda Green. Great! With a RAL number, I can get perfect color!
...Nope. I ordered a can of alkyd enamel by RAL code by mail. It arrived way too dark, and was pre-reduced, which wouldn't help me with a brush, so I threw good money after bad and ordered the right alkyd DTM paint from Sherwin WIlliams in Reseda Green. It is a thick paint, but way too light in color. So I figured I was already $200 in, so I mixed the paint colors 50/50. Good enough, but it'll be hell trying to match in the future!
I decided to put paint on the saddle as a test.
I was happy with the result, so I got to work on more prep.

I took in my tailstock to match my LeBlond: they scanned 4 places and got 4 completely different mixes... I settled on the one that looked closest after 5 minutes drying time. After 3 days it looks completely different. I used it anyway. *sigh*
Very nice lathe, I’m jealous! You’ve skipped a few steps in the upgrade path from your Atlas to this
Do you have projects in mind that need the size of this lathe or is it more of a case that you wanted a bigger lathe and you’ll find projects that fit?
