PM-1236T Coolant Containment questions

I have used the Flexbar it works OK, much better than none. I did develop stress cracks over time. When I installed it on my current lathe it is attached to the cross slide so always covers the cutter. I would look at this thread with the same lathe that also went with flood coolant. Lots of good ideas. I use a water emulsion Koolrite on my bandsaw and it works well, but call them and see what they recommend.

Do you have any pictures of the flexbar unit installed on the cross slide?

I am traveling, just have a general picture of it mounted. It is adjustable for position relative to the cross slide. I do not think it has enough coverage for flood coolant.

I pulled the trigger on the Danray 42" wood lathe shield. Will report back here.

Ok here’s a pic of the Danray shield installed. As someone suggested, just a trickle of coolant goes a long way, and I’m generally at 300 rpm or lower so the mess is manageable. I plan to add another pecan piece to the carriage held on with magnets to block the forward coolant. There is still a gap in the rear, Might be worth getting the rear shield that danray sells to match.

Great idea on the "Salad bar" chip shield. I like it.
I was going to say save yourself the grief and skip the coolant altogether until I saw Inconel LOL!
We cut that stuff at work on Swiss machines and its an absolute mofo. No run lights out for fear of returning to an inferno.
