Opinions on Grinder Stand Height?

Just a suggestion for those using a light that takes a "A" base incandescent lamp. Go to a decent electrical supplier and pick up some "Rough Service" lamps. They will stand the vibration that is inherent with a bench grinder.

8 in Baldor Grinder mounted on shop made stand, 4 x 4 x 1/4 HSS tubing, with 1/2" plate for top and 3/4 plate for base. Sitting on four Hockey Puck leveling feet, puts the grinder at 43" centre height to floor, which I find is quite comfortable for me at 5'10"

My only complaint with this set-up is no storage under the grinder, and with the way my shop has filled up, every bit of storage helps.

Elbow height (+-), no need to stoop to see your work. Same goes for table saw height, lots of woodworkers(where I came from before being sucked into the machining world) have their height set at least a bit above belt level to elbow height. May not be for everyone but is worth giving it a try.

Yup, well my elbow is 43" off the floor, so that works out just right, LOL

you might start be blocking your grinder on the work bench to the height of your flexed elbow, that is a comfortable height. dpat
