Here is another tip:

A chip is always larger than the base material. It kind of springs out when it dislodges from work. Though grinding the tip of the parting blade straight is good for keeping the forces balanced, and thus the tool centered in the slot, I've found that grinding the tip diagonally avoids the issue of the chips getting stuck in the slot, packing up, and grabbing the tool.
