New Leveling Base For Mill...

It's 24.75". What about the steel one? How tall is it?

Gary

Mine is 25.0". I have mine raised 6.5" with the feet at their minimal. Table is at my elbow height just like the spindle height on my lathe. I remember someone recommending that & I find that to work good for me too. No more hunching over while working & less fatigue for me. I'm 5'7".

All done and it works great. Strong enough to not vibrate or move and had just enough flex to get it perfectly level. BTW: It was two pieces of 5/16 x 3 x 4 angle iron on the sides and 4 struts of 1-1/4 heavy wall angle iron to hold it together. Used 4 pieces of pipe and some shop-drops to weld the levelers on the corners. Used standard 5/8 threaded rod for the screw jacks.

It's up high enough to make life more comfortable.

-That was easy... Glad the gantry is out of the way now.

Looks good Ray. How much did you end up raising it in total?

Gary

Approximately 6" from the top of the 3/4 plywood panel as measured in the front. About 5-3/4" in the rear (the floor slightly slants to the center of the garage for possible water drainage).

-And now, the shop is finally back together... Ahhhhh...
