Grizzly caries a lot of import replacement parts. Not sure if there's a Grizzly version of your Central 1679, but if they are both versions of the typical 8x14/16 lathes, part #420 from this page might be what you're after. You can always cut it down if it's just too long.

I'm curious if anyone owns this mini lathe. I bought it new 28 years ago but I don't seem to read anything about it. Mine is a good one and it never gave me any trouble what's so ever. I snapped a few drive belts, that's the extent to my bad luck with it. This machine is an 8" x 17 3/4" sized...
