Need An Electrician L.A. Area Surrounding

I searched and searched. But, didn't really know how or what to search?
Would love too to read or watch a link if you have one?

I never thought of the chuck unwinding in reverse. Thank you for that.

And thank you for taking the time helping a forum member.

Hutch

Although I have never had a chuck that had been properly "seated" back off simply by starting the motor in reverse, I would not risk turning or threading in reverse unless you have one of the very few chucks that are fitted with a lock or are using a collet that is NOT in a screw-on chuck or closer to hold and spin the work piece. At low RPM and small DOC (Depth Of Cut) it probably won't happen but it would only take a hard spot or an interrupted cut.

Search "induction motor wiki"
It gets pretty technical but it's all there
What Robert means above is that simply reversing the lathe during a low speed thread cutting operation should be OK, it's actual cutting in reverse you want to avoid unless your chuck is secured so it can't unscrew
