Need a name for this part

Now that I know the name, I found them on Pacific Tool and Gauge, but a 6 to 8 week delivery time as they are made order.

I could probably make something similar out of aluminum, but not sure how to cut such a small internal taper. How would you handle that? Grind a 60 degree tip on a drill bit?

How about a center drill? Then it would match your dead center, no?

I have a set of center drills, haven’t looked to see if they are 60 degree. If they are, that would make it simple. Thanks.

I’m hoping to get the job done without re crowning. Since it’s a contender barrel, I haven’t figured out how to hold it on the back end with barrel pivot lug in the way. It won’t fit the spider that I use. I would like to run it between center, to cut threads for a brake.

I appreciate all the quick replies.
I couldn't figure out how make those short brass protectors but I do make a different design. I put the 60 degree center on one end and a stub .001 over bore diameter on the other end then drive it into the bore. I usually dial in the other end in a 4 jaw but for turning on centers you can use a similar brass plug at the chamber end as well.

That is another possibility, sounds easier to make.
