Need a cheap compressor for my shop

Tractor supply sells several smaller air compressors (Jobsmart) that are under $200.
I have one of there larger ones I bought 7 years or so ago that has held up great. Mine is a cast iron, belt driven unit with oil, it is 120v, 2.5hp I think and 23 gallons. They have one similar now but with a little different specs under the Campbell Hausfeld name, mine was bought under there Jobsmart name. You might want to look at there oil filled 10 gallon unit as one you can get local. I also have a small Campbell Hausfeld unit that is a 3 gal, hot dog unit, with a carry handle, it is oil less but really quiet and I have had it for about 13 years now, it looks similar to this one, mine will inflate a tire, run a nail gun and I have used an impact with it without any problem, just couldn't paint or use any tools for long intervals with it. Might be something to look at it.

I like the 20 Gal C-H model at Tractor Supply - quiet & powerful. Takes 15 amp plus but I have a line I can add dedicated to it. But there are no stores near me, I only in upstate NY, Conn. and NJ. Amazon sells the same model for $100 more- $450. It's more than I intended but seems worth it.

TSC does shipping too. Call up and get an estimate for UPS.

... It's funny in a way... For several days, we've all been helping you go through the agonizing process of finding the best thing to suit your needs... Now multiply that by 3000 x (Every Item In Our Collective Shops) -and that equates to an awful lot of agonizing!

The compressor is available in stores only according to this:

I appreciate the help you guys provided - I know I agonized a lot, but that's because I don't know about compressors, and, like most of my stuff, I am going to have and use this stuff for a while. I don't want to buy twice that always ends up costing more.

From what I see, I will be doing some driving to Jersey or Connecticut unless I find this compressor somewhere else for about the same price. It's sturdy, quiet, large enough for what I need, but small enough to fit.

Thanks guys!

Just found out Ace Hardware carries this compressor or can order it. Costs more but I will save shipping picking it up there!

good choice. . i've had these in the past, and being in the air tool repair business it got used a lot. lasted a long time. i think i replaced a set of reed valves only once and it was very easy. . . . .

Not much to agonize about. Ifye need just a bit of air a balloon will do it. If you need a lot of air you could have 60 laborers on tire pumps or something in between. :-) Ther'd be pitfalls o' each.

If you really want something LP LV but low noise look at some of the dental/medical rotary centrifugal compressors. They are oil less, silent use water for pistons,
