My refurbished Union wooden toolbox

Hi Bob,
I'm a new member her but it looks like you put a lot of time and love in it.

Good job!!!

Nice job, it takes a lot of patience to put something back together. Not like starting fresh. If only you knew all of the history of where that box had been in its' lifetime, if only it could talk. Reproducing the missing drawer will be easy, having one to copy.

I used my trusty digital camera as my guide to be able to reassemble it. That and a few brewski's to help keep the brain cells engaged during the reassembly. I am pleased with the outcome. I fnished it just in time to start cleaning up my Horseless Carriage Replica car to take it this Thursday evening to a large indoor car show which runs thru the weekend.

gojo? Isn't that one of those paste-type hand cleaners?

Joe

Yes, it is. Goop is another. They will not harm the wood or the finish that is there. Don't rinse it. Those are water optional hand cleaners, so just wipe it on, and rub with hands/fingers until the grime is loosened, and rub it dry with a terrycloth towel. Possibly repeat, but the lanolin will nourish the existing finish. I use it on antique radio wood cabinets and never have a problem. Works good. Just avoid the pumice. No abrasive wanted. Also avoid ammonia or chlorine in the cleaner you use. Even some of the cleaners like Purple Power, Formula 409, Fantastic, etc.....careful with those on old wood. The finish, if original, could be shellac, varnish, who knows if it has been refinished.
