Hi,
Admittedly, I can sharpen a Drill Bit by hand with a Gauge pretty well, but...

No way as good as a Machine set up to do it correctly.

Have been keeping my eyes open for years and finally found something I was looking for...

Found this on FB and offered the Seller $100 and he took it.

Sometimes people just want something out of their way, I guess.

Yea, a little ratty but should clean up well and there are still parts available from what I see, though this is suppose to be complete???

Just diving into information on it now.Grinder 1 .JPGGrinder 2 .JPG

one thing I do not understand about grinding equip like this and others is the open motor. Just such a STUPID idea to allow the grinding dust to get sucked in.
It's all part of the plan, sell more motors.

The pump on my tankless water heater failed because of the composite impeller/housing. No reason it couldn't have been made from SS.

But making a guy spend $300 every few years, is a continuous revenue source.

Cool! I would start with a "complete" tear down, clean, and reassembly. That'll tell you almost immediately if something is way out of whack. A new piece of polycarbonate is in order as well. You have at least the basic parts - get it cleaned up and it'll probably give you years of good service.

Hi,
Well, I'm already missing the STOP that goes on the end of the Square Rod, where the drill sits and a couple of thumb screws.

Hope that is it on missing parts?

Still looking, no experience with this but seems well respected!

Hi,
Well, have heard nothing from the Seller on the missing Stop for the end of the square rod.

Saw a pic where an Owner was missing the same part and just cut a peice of bar and put a square hole in it.

Wanted something a little more to the original part.

The original part is a casting and would be pretty hard for me to duplicate but came up with this.

Rounded all the edges for comfort and decided to install Grub Screws so I could get it as smooth and tight as possible.

Did not have a Broach so had to file the square hole.

I used some drill rod for the extender but have a real piece of 1/8" HSS coming in the mail.

Think it will look good and work well after painting and the refurb!

Hi,
Well, after making the Stop decided to try the Sharpener out.

Still missing some thumbscrews and labels that are in the mail from the nice Lady at Lisle.

Had some bigger drills that I use on the Lathe, most have a 2MT.

Some of these were victims of someones hand sharpening not using a Gauge, I guess...

Wrong lip angle, ect...

I am missing numbers on my angle tags, drill size, ect. so just set everything to "middle", so to speak just as a Test.

Not bad really, a fun Machine to run, a little slow maybe, but not that much, and a lot more satisfying than a Drill Doctor, to me anyway!

Time for the Refurb...
