My Myford super 7 lathe

Thanks for the tip Albert, I have ordered a blue Led one to match my paint:)). Would be interested in your thoughts on an analogue converter.

Rod, this should be the simplest solution: http://8085projects.info/tachometer-circuit-using-integrated-speed-voltage-converter-lm2907.html
This circuit can be build on a piece of breadboard easily. The output voltage is proportional to the input frequency and by varying RP you can calibrate the meter to give max deflection of the needle with maximum rev input. I recomment a 10K pot for RP. Or you can check this out: http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/Frequen...ltDomain_0&hash=item3a93b0470d#ht_4088wt_1382

Hi Albert, congrats on your find.

If you need manual or spare parts list just let me know.

I should have it all.

Cheers

Thanks Mike, @ Rod, it's a Hall sensor (magnetic). I bought it at ebay for about 10$ from a seller called t-mall, search for red led tachometer. You can add an analogue meter by adding a frequency to voltage converter (simple with NE555 chip). I'll explain more when i get home from holiday next sunday ☺ difficult now with the cellphone.

Hi Albert
Have you tried the sensor with a smaller magnet? The one supplied is too big to fit my installation easily.
Rod

Hi Rod,
It should work with a smaller magnet too, all depends of the distance to the sensor, (smaller magnet, closer distance). I think that the distance is about 10mm max with this combination, so you can get a smaller magnet and get closer.
