Maximat V13 owners manual

I don't know. The gears on Emco lathes are fit to very tight tolerances and must align exactly right to go on and off shafts but once you do get them aligned they move easily. Your lathe is used and may have some rust or grit on the shafts so a puller, gently used, would probably be okay. Just go easy.

I’m not going to risk pulling that off for fear of having to struggle getting it back on. I certainly don’t want to harm anything. As oily as everything was I don’t think that it would be rust. Perhaps grit. I used a large syringe to suck the lubricant out of that particular box.

Now that I have my lathe anchored to the shop floor, the bed ways are level and are not twisted. However my head box needs adjusting. I’ve located the four adjustment screws, but it doesn’t appear to have any up or down adjustment. It appears that the far left end of the head box needs to come up. I’m checking this with a standard machinist level on a known true piece of round bar stock. It could however the the chuck Jaws. Are there any replacement jaws for this chuck. They do show significant wear.

You can use precision shim stock if needed. The factory used Onion Skin for shimming. Last I looked you could still find Onion Skin on ebay. Vertical adjustment is rarely needed and may require precision tailstock vertical adjustment; usually best to just leave it alone.

You might find replacement jaws on ebay but it will probably be faster and cheaper to replace the chuck.
