I’m cheap. But if my oil has signs of water.... I’m throwing it out. No way am I going to try and remove the water by heating my oil. In fact, I’d rather have a non-synthetic oil for a few months in my machine until I can afford to buy the synthetic later.
FWIW, if the oil is foaming up on you and also had water in it... the oil gets a chocolate milk appearance. I think that happens more readily in detergent oils due to the detergent additives.
