It's been a long time coming, but I have a few beginner projects to show off.

First is a spring-loaded tap follower. Only had to make one part, twice.

Next is the MLA casting for a micrometer holder for the lathe. I screwed up the main casting the first time, so I got a second. This went great, until the end, when I realized that the bore for the micrometer was perpendicular to its own flats, but not to the notch. It was pointing abut 1/8" off center. So I set it back up with the clamp on a round rod held in the v-jaw, and rebored it oversize. Then I slipped in a bronze sleeve, and now it's DNO.

The last project, just completed, is a scissors-type knurler. I got the plans from a member of either this forum or PM, and unfortunately, I can't find his name. I only had to make one part, twice, because of a really stupid mistake, but I made two others over again because I cheated and kept them, even though they were not perfect. Offended my sensibilities, they did.

Let the criticism begin!

Had to laugh when I saw the title. I remember "Give it to Mikey, he'll eat anything." It works here to, "Give it ti Mikey, he can build anything" Great work Mike.

nice work. gotta make me some of those (keep telling myself that doesn't seem to produce them from thin air though)

Great additions to your tool collection. You had a few parts you did over, but that happens, and if you learned from this, its all good. All the tools look to have come out fine in the end. I like that idicator holder, looks like a nice casting. Did you test drive that new knurler yet?

Nice, I like the way you made the tap tool.

The knurler will be my first project on my baby mill, though I'm going to do the camjack version.

Not yet, but soon.

Beginner projects? They look way too good! Either you have more experience than you think, or you've got a gift! Nice work!

You guys are really too kind.

Like on Norm Abrams' show, you can't see the scrap pile!
