Link belt vs regular belt

It’s actually grey. I ordered the belt from McMaster-Carr, but I’m almost positive it’s a Fenner.
 
Like kd4gij I have the Harbor Freight link belt. It works fine but for me it was very loud on my lathe. I've since switched to regular V belt and it's surprisingly much quieter. If I needed a link belt I'd grab a 20% coupon and go to HF.
 
I can’t remember where I got my link belt, but it always slipped, and I got rid of it. I tried it on a small lathe with very very light depths of cut and also on a small drill press.
